There is a proverb in Japanese, "Life is like a journey, and there are always ups and downs." The theme of this design is the antenna 47 complex, which is for displaying and selling local Japanese products of 47 counties. Considering the site environment, I took travel as a concept. In the design, terrains are transformed into abstract symbols and are composed in space.
Terrains abstraction was extracted from the section of the typical nature in Japan. These forms created diverse layers and various spaces, triggering the feeling of travel while people are walking through the architecture. Every abstraction combined various functions, such as shops, lecture halls, activity place. This complex could satisfy people's daily demand, commercial function, and bring them a unique travel cultural experience.
Each terrain abstraction was embed in space, based on the same height as the floor. After composed of curved guiding lines, the form was fixed. The circulation was divided into a continued route and three vertical traffic. And eight abstractions were sight-connected.
In order to increase architectural permeability and emphasize terrains abstraction, the structure of the Antenna 47 commercial complex was a thin pillar and distributed in a regular grid. This not only weakened structure in inner space but also stressed abstraction in the streetscape.
